Games Made Quick 2.5 - Quick to make games.

Today I wanted to work with my housemate on a little gamejam thingy for fun. This is what we made. It's not much but we had fun making it!

It started out as an idea for something very different: a multi-lingual game with a dog that could speak Irish and an owl that could speak Portuguese. That game was going to be called "Lingua". Turns out it's we actually made a game about trying to get to sleep while animals are causing a fuss. Here's a snap of some whiteboard doodles:

Why not make the language game? Well this was about making a game *quickly* and writing *takes time*. Well, it's not like we sacrificed on writing to improve something else, we just got the prototype together with the bare minimum to actually call it a game! Or is it a game book? A choose-your-own-adventure style thing. Well it's been made quickly and has a win state and a lost state, so I think it qualifies. I didn't care much for quality for this one though, it was more about making something as complete as I could, as quickly as I could.

There's a bunch of things I'd like to add to it and change about it. You know, like content. (It would be *much* better if there was *any*). However, on super quick things like this I have found it better to get a little loop going. Once you have *something* as a loop, it is much easier to insert content, as it has a natural place to go, or a place that just intuitively "fits".

I guess this is little scaffold for a little game about a person who is trying to get to sleep, but is interrupted by animals and being too warm. Why animals? Mostly because the 1GAM theme is "CREATURE FEATURE" for this month and that was how it ended up making the most sense.

Who knows, maybe I'll add more before the Games Made Quick jam is over. I think this game was the first entry!

GAME MADE QUICK!!! :P
