Lauch of WALKERMELON v1.0.0 - made and published during a live-coding presentation about game jams


Don't blame me, I was but a conduit for a room full of game makers!

I gave a talk about game jamming by live-developing a game with audience participation, and created an itch.io jam and published the game within 75 minutes. The event was GIT 1.1 Game Development, taking place on 16th of January, 2024.


The takeaway of the talk was how to make a game jam prototype faster by imposing arbitrary limitations, and making quick decisions by effectively prioritising most important aspects of a game-like experience.


50% of the game design did not make v1.0.0, however it is still identifiable as a game. Not bad for 75mins from scratch and no theme. It is quite possible to add more from here.


Funnily enough this game also has fan art now too, which is wild. Thank you!
